Midwifery and medicine. Two university lecture manuscript notebooks by Noreen Enid Blyth, 1929-1930. One notebook with notes on child welfare (94pp); the other on nursing and home nursing (107pp and 40pp unnumbered to rear). Inscribed 'Dr. Sybil Pratt' and addressed to Mill Hill; believed the notebooks made by Blyth of Pratt's teachings. Dr. Sybil Pratt is noted as house physician in the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital for Women in a 1918 article in The Hospital newspaper; Pratt also appears to have taken an interest in women's suffrage. Original cloth boards, marbled edges, rubbed and shelfworn, some rust damage from a number of paperclips clipped in, a few spots. Including description on diet, digestive system, feeds, ante natal, breast-feeding vs. artificial feeding, symptoms and treatment of children's diseases such as mumps, chicken pox, rubella and measles, use of leeches etc. It is believed these notes were made by a student of the London School of Medicine for Women, the first school in the UK to train women as doctors. 8vo.
