Transport. 1882 Correspondence with reference to the Proposed Construction of a Channel Tunnel, presented to Both Houses of Parliament by Command of Her Majesty. London: printed at the War Office by Harrison and Sons. Contemporary cloth covered boards, gilt titled to the front board, label to the top corner, gilt name to the lower corner. Loss to the spine ends, the corners bumped and with loss, the joints worn and with a few losses; light marks to the rear board. The hinges a little loose. Leaves lightly marginally toned, with a few spots; faint stamp to the title page. Text in both French and English. An interesting late Victorian examination into the feasibility of a Channel Tunnel between England and France; the plan was ultimately deemed too much of a military risk and abandoned, the Channel Tunnel eventually opening in 1994 - over a century later. Folio. (1) Publisher: printed at the War Office by Harrison and Sons Publisher Location: London Publication Date: 1882 Binding: Hardcover
